Getting you there safely and on time

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

How many people do your buses seat?
Our entire fleet consists of 57 passenger coaches. Although you can put 57 people on our buses, we recommend on longer trips, that you only utilize 55 of the 57 seats. No standees!
Do your buses have a video system?
Yes. Our coaches have strictly DVD systems (no VHS) with 5 flat screen monitors. You can also play CD and MP3 formats on the same system. HMC reserves the right as to what can, and will be viewed on our systems.
Is there a restroom on the coach?
Yes. We do have a restroom in the rear of all buses.
How about the drivers lodging?
It is the customer's responsibility to arrange and pay for drivers lodging in advance. The driver is the most important person on the trip. It is imperative that he is placed in a comfortable private hotel room (no cabins or dorm rooms) with TV and phone. His or her rest and privacy is the key to the safety and well being to the passengers.
Does the driver have to stay in the same hotel as the group?
No, not as long as he has a comfortable room and he is in close proximity to the group.
Do we tip the driver?
Yes. A driver's gratuity is something that we don't factor into the cost of the trip but it is something that should always be given by the group. Bus driver tips are as common as tipping a waiter or a skycap at the airport. Of course like anything, you giving gratitude to a job well done. At the end of the trip, if you didn't feel you received excellent service for His Majesty Coach, then we would expect you to pay that.
What is a good tip to give the driver?
A good 'rule of thumb' to go by is a minimum of $1.00-1.50 per person, per day. Example: 7 day trip with 50 people =$350.00 to $525.00 gratuity.
Can we stop to eat on the way?
Yes. Unless you have a prearranged meal stop, usually the tour guide will let the driver know when to make a food stop. If the group leader informs the driver in enough time, then he can be looking for a particular type of restaurant that the group would like to eat at.
Do I pay for the drivers meals?
Not in most cases. Most restaurants will 'comp' the drivers meal for bringing in a large group into their establishment. If it's a situation to where the group is eating in a private group setting, then you would be responsible for his or her meal.
Can we bring food and drink on the bus?
That depends on a couple of factors. If the trip is local and the group will only be on the bus for a very short time, it is not necessary to bring food or beverage on the bus.
If the trip is long distance or overnight, we will allow it. His Majesty Coaches policy on food and beverage is as follows;
  • Only drinks with replaceable screw tops are allowed on board. (no cans or cup drinks with lids)
  • No chewing gum.
  • No Styrofoam coolers
  • The driver reserves the right to ban all food and drink from the coach at anytime, if the group does not keep the bus completely clean.
  • Please respect the property of others. You will not be the last group on the bus, so please leave it nice for the next group.
Are there any other charges that I need to be aware of?
Yes. Depending on the nature of the trip, some other costs involved will be:
  • Tolls
  • parking and entrance fees
  • border permits (Canada)
  • city bus permits (i.e. Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA)
  • drivers lodging and tip.
